The Southern Africa Tour.
Tour Report Part 3.
From Zambia to Malawi.
Our 3 week tour with Julie and Ally continued. From the Chiawa area of Lower Zambezi, we had 2 days of long drives. First, we drove to Petauke Town for an overnight stay. Then from Petauke, we crossed the Zambia Malawi border at Mchinji, and headed to Dedza, which was our first destination in Malawi.
I like Malawi, mainly because the people are very approachable, even when you meet for the first time. We had unexpectedly friendly conversations at checkpoints, shops, petrol stations, roadside markets, and with staff at lodges.
At Dedza, we toured the Pottery, and then made our way to Cape Maclear, Lake Malawi. Part of this trip took us down a very scenic mountain road. After a full day drive, we got to Cape Maclear. The views were insanely beautiful!!! The next day, our activity was a half day boat excursion on the lake. We fed fish eagles, got shown around some islands, bays and other lake areas, and had a picnic lunch on an island. The lunch was freshly made while we waited! Really cool! We returned to base in the afternoon, to relax and catch another great sunset.
Thanks to the resident guides and other activity and accommodation partners for making our visit to Dedza and Cape Maclear memorable.
Next stop.....Mount Mulanje! Look out for the Part 4 Tour Report coming soon.
